In conjunction with the launch of Peugeot Johor Bahru, Nasim officially unveiled the New 5008 MPV at the outlet. It has been more than 2 years since we last tested the (pre-facelift) 5008 but we recall how capable and nice it was to drive in one. The new 5008 is set to carry on the of comfort, technology and safety which made its predecessor stand out in the first place.

.

The difference between the old and new is most apparent with a redesigned headlamp cluster equipped with dynamic bi-xenon advanced lighting system with auto levelling and the front grille has been redesigned to feature a larger gaping ‘mouth’ instead of horizontal lines making the entire front fascia looking more like an grown-up 3008, down to the chrome boomerang outlining the front fog lights. The sides and back look identical.

.

Performance wise, the New 5008 MPV’s power train has been updated with a 1.6-litre twin scroll turbo high pressure engine featuring Variable Valve Timing that delivers 165 PS @ 6000rpm (up from 156 PS) and the same 240 Nm @ 1400rpm – 4250rpm delivering excellent low end power and good fuel efficiency. The 6-speeder Aisin gearbox pairing with the engine is unchanged.

.

Within, you’ll find the layout of the new and old 5008 unchanged. Stand out features such as the innovative colour head up display that offers instant readout of speeds and cruise control information and an 8-way electric driver seat that offers a wide range of adjustability to achieve the perfect driving position can be found here. In addition, the Peugeot Park Assist with Front and Rear Audio and Visual Assistance together with the Available Space Measurement (ASM) remains the same as before although an Intuitive High Resolution 7” Retractable Colour Screen with Navigation and reverse camera is new.

.

Other carry over items includes two 7-inch LCD screens built in front of its seat headrest, dual RCA input connectors with separate multimedia feeds for simultaneous playback, and two Bluetooth© Headphones as well as the panoramic roof with electronic retractable blind. For parents,  you’ll be happy to note that the ISOFIX system and central child monitoring mirror has been maintained.

.

Storage flexibility remains excellent in the new 5008, with multiple storage options that allows anything to be transported with ease. The flat fold 2nd and 3rd row seats can take up to 2,506 litres of cargo, an essential feature in a multi-purpose vehicle.

.

As always, comprehensive safety is offered on the New 5008 MPV and it still features six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Anti-Skid Regulator (ASR), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), and Hill Start Assist. The level of both active and passive safety protection has seen the new 5008 MPV being awarded the full 5 star Euro NCAP rating as testament to its overall safety standard.

.

The New 5008 MPV is available in 5 exciting colours which are Rich Oak, Bourrasque Blue, Artense Grey, Pearl White and Shark Grey. The on-the-road price with insurance for the New 5008 MPV is RM159,888 in Peninsular Malaysia only.

.

All Peugeot models come with five-year warranty with unlimited mileage together with Nasim’s 24-hour Peugeot Assistance service, complimentary access to the Peugeot Lounge at Subang Airport and Peugeot Privilege membership, all to provide the best ownership experience for its customers.
