The Tiguan 1.4 2WD has joined the Volkswagen vehicle line-up in Malaysia and the fully imported compact SUV from Germany is available for viewing at all Volkswagen dealerships in Pen. Malaysia starting today. Since it’s first launch in 2007, the Tiguan has found 600,000 owners and remains as one of the popular Volkswagens in the world.

.

“The Tiguan is the latest addition to our range of offerings and it is a dynamic two-wheel drive SUV that provides power yet fuel efficiency for the performance-driven, and still encapsulates advanced safety features for peace of mind. It provides both a fun and dynamic city drives as well as comfortable long-distance travelling experience making it a more accessible addition to the trademark “Tiguan” experience”, said Christoph Aringer, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Malaysia.

.

The 1.4l engine featured in the Tiguan is the same twin-charged direct petrol injection 4-cylinder as the Golf MK VI (the previous generation Golf sold. More info about the old and new Golf can be found HERE) which dishes out 160PS @ 6,000rpm and 240Nm of torque from 1,500rpm to 4,500rpm. What’s different from the Golf is instead of the 7-speed dry clutch gearbox, the Tiguan 1.4l sports a 6-speed DSG so  those who’re ‘cautioning’ others about the risk of premature DSG mechatronic failure, please stop making a fool of yourself; the 6-speed is built like a bomb, is able to handle a lot more power and problems are rare. Also, the Golf’s EA1111 does not have engine Stop/Start with regenerative braking like the Golf MK VII; this Tiguan’s does and has a rated fuel efficiency of 7.1litres per 100km in a combined driving cycle which is improved from the 2.0litre model, partly thanks to the omission of the 4-wheel drive 4MOTION system in favor of a 2WD front wheel drive train.

.
