BMW Group Malaysia today introduced the new locally-assembled BMW X6 in the form of the BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport.

 

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Mr. Alan Harris, Managing Director and CEO of BMW Group Malaysia said, “The introduction of the locally-assembled BMW X6 marks the 9th model to join the portfolio of BMW Group Malaysia’s locally assembled vehicles. This is further testament to the longstanding investment and commitment we have here in Malaysia.”

 

Mr. Harris further added that, “Malaysia continues to be a strategic hub for the BMW Group in South East Asia. Beyond the move to assemble the new BMW X6 in the country, we also recently celebrated the ground-breaking ceremony of our new Parts Distribution Centre which supports 22 countries in South East Asia at the Free Trade Zone of the Senai International Airport as well as the further expansion to our headquarters here in Cyberjaya which also coincides with the celebration of our 11 years of operation here.”

 

The new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport takes its rightful position as the kind of the road with its irresistable allure, intoxicating performance attributes and innovative luxury – all of which transcends into even more road presence and extravagance. With its sporting and athletic design, enhanced performance, improved fuel efficiency, and even more comprehensive line of standard equipment, the new locally-assembled BMW X6 will set the tone of the premium automaker’s success in the country.

 

“Up till the month of August, we have delivered a total of 5,610 vehicles in the country, consisting of 4,475 BMW, 481 MINI and 654 BMW Motorrad vehicles. I am confident that BMW Group Malaysia will continue to grow as we mirror the success of our global counterparts,” said Mr. Harris.

Design: extrovert athleticism & luxury written with an X.

The new locally-assembled BMW X6 carries an extrovert design which blends the versatile character of the BMW X models with the elegance of a sporting BMW coupé. Viewed from the front, the new locally-assembled Sports Activity Coupé is dominated by a wide kidney grille which extends all the way to its Adaptive LED headlights and LED fog lights, both featured as standard.

 

In typical manner of the SAC’s extravagant coupé-style elegance; a typical flat roofline and a distinctive second swage line on the side of the car receives an injection of performance orientation to further complete the powerful, solid appearance of the car. The M Sport package which is fitted as standard offers the M Aerodynamics package and Adaptive M Suspension, with features such as 20” M double spoke light alloy wheels with mixed tyres.

 

The interior of the new locally-assembled BMW X6 also fully reflects the car’s extraordinary role in the premium SAC segment. With special interior colours, exclusive trims and Dakota leather upholstery, the new SAC was designed with the driver in mind. The cockpit benefits from hallmark BMW driver orientation with features such as a multifunctional instrument display with black-panel technology, of which horizontal lines extends from the instrument panel to the doors thus further underlining the luxurious and comfortable ambience in the cabin. Other features in the interior of the new locally-assembled BMW X6 include four-zone air conditioning and exclusive ambient lighting at shoulder height.
To further highlight the dynamic aspects of the new locally-assembled BMW X6, the M Sport package also features electrically adjustable sports seats with memory function for the front seats, M leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons and paddle shifters as well as Sport gear selector lever. The elegant contours of the new SAC meanwhile will feature an anthracite-coloured BMW Individual headliner and Aluminium Hexagon interior trim.

 

Engine: imposing performance, exemplary efficiency.

At the heart of the action is a three-litre six-cylinder inline petrol engine which benefits from a full range of BMW EfficientDynamics features to ensure the new SAC delivers even greater performance and consideraly improved fuel efficiency.

 

The new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport generates an astounding output of 306hp and 400Nm of peak torque, and is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 6.4 seconds with a top speed of 240 km/h. Coupled with an eight-speed Steptronic sport transmission for shift quality and fuel economy, the new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport delivers an average fuel consumption reading of 8.6l/100km and CO2 emissions level of 200g/km.

 

Additional BMW EfficientDynamics features include a Launch Control function and an anticipatory powertrain, while a closer look at the aerodynamic design of the new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport reveals Air Curtains, Air Breathers and air vent to further optimise air flow and reduce fuel consumption. The Driving Experience Control which is also featured as standard with an ECO PRO mode enables additional fuel-saving features including a coasting function.

 

Meanwhile, the advanced chassis layout with double-wishbone front suspension and intelligent xDrive all-wheel-drive system all come together to grace the new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport with more optimization on ride comfort and directional stability. The levels of sportiness and comfort in the new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport is then raised with the Adaptive M Suspension package which combines Dynamic Damper Control and pneumatic rear suspension with a deliberately sporty tuning.

 

BMW ConnectedDrive: intelligent connectivity wherever the journey leads.

The new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport is perfectly equipped to offer hallmark BMW driving pleasure. A prime example is its extremely extensive range of BMW ConnectedDrive features including high-definition, full-colour Head-Up Display and BMW Selective Beam to define the benchmark in the premium SAC class.

 

Another unique drive assistance system available in the new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive 35i M Sport is Surround View 360which allows for perfect all-round visibility when parking, manoeuvring and navigating in spaces. Driving Assistant, a camera-based system which combines Lane Departure Warning with Approach Warning and Pedestrian Warning with city braking function serve to alert the driver whenever the vehicle is about to stray outside the limits of its lane and in case of a potential collission, performs preventive braking manoeuvres. Additional infotainment services include BMW Apps which provide the basis for smartphone integration including in-car access to Facebook, Twitter, Spotify and more.

 

The new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport is available in Alpine White, Flamenco Red, Carbon Black and Space Grey, with a range of Leather Dakota upholstery colour choices including Black,Coral Red and Cognac.

 

The estimated retail prices (on the road, without insurance with BMW Malaysia’s latest 5 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty and Free Scheduled Service Program) of the new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport is RM 666,888.
