Cyberjaya, 25th April 2016 – BMW Group Malaysia today introduced two new models which will be locally assembled in the country. The all-new BMW X1 and BMW X4 will mark the ninth and tenth new models to join the portfolio of vehicles assembled in Malaysia.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chuan, Minister II of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) who also officiated the launch said, “We at MITI are pleased that the BMW Group has continued its commitment and investment to make Malaysia a strategic hub for them in the region. This move not only demonstrates that Malaysia has the necessary infrastructure, people and capability as a strategic country for foreign investment, but also shows that Malaysia is well underway towards becoming a regional automotive hub for Energy Efficient Vehicles.”

Mr. Han Sang Yun, Managing Director and CEO of BMW Group Malaysia, meanwhile, said, “The new locally-assembled BMW X1 and BMW X4 are a further testament to our longstanding investment and commitment to Malaysia as a strategic hub for the BMW Group in the South East Asian region. Overall, the BMW Assembly Plant in Kulim now assembles over 20 variants of BMW and MINI vehicles in the country.”

Mr. Han further added that earlier in 2016, the premium automaker revised its pricing strategy for variants of the BMW 1 Series and BMW 3 Series lower by up to 8% as the vehicles received its Customised EEV Status Incentives.

“Today, I am pleased to announce that we have now received similar incentives for the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo, BMW X3 and BMW 5 Series. We will be extending this benefit by the Malaysian government to our customers and we will be revising the prices for the vehicles lower by up to 9%.”

BMW Group Malaysia also announced that in 2018, Malaysia would become the export hub for the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series and BMW 7 Series variants to Vietnam and the Philippines. Mr. Han said, “Malaysia continues to be a strategic hub for the BMW Group in South East Asia and we at BMW Group Malaysia are pleased to be able to raise our compentency here to assemble and export these premium vehicles to emerging markets in the region to grow our capabilities in the ASEAN region.”

The new locally-assembled BMW X1 encapsulates a far-reaching maturing process clearly expressed in the design of both the exterior and interior of the new Sports Activity Vehicle. As the sportiest SAV in its class, the new locally-assembled BMW X1 symbolises ruggedness and athleticism with its dynamic wedge shape, angular wheel arches and a more central position of the occupant cell.

Its front end is fitted with LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and parking lights, cornering lights, and adaptive light distribution. Its rear meanwhile, features LED rear lights and wide tailights in typical BMW L-shaped light strips.

The most notable progress, however, are in the areas of functionality, safety and comfort of the new locally-assembled BMW X1. A raised seating position by 40 millimetres offers both the driver and passengers a number of benefits. Among the many is an outstanding all-round view, which simultaneously brings added safety in road traffic. Entering and leaving the car is also substantially more convenient for all passengers and in combination with the lowered position of the instrument panel and large window surfaces, the elevated view creates a pleasantly generous sense of spaciousness.

Rounding it up as the most technologically advanced vehicle in its segment is the class-leading and richly varied selection of driver assistance systems and mobility services from BMW ConnectedDrive. The BMW ConnectedDrive Services and Apps available includes the Intelligent Emergency Call, Concierge Services, and Remote Services, while BMW ConnectedDrive Driver Assistance systems include Intelligent Parking and BMW Navigation Professional.

The new locally-assembled BMW X1 will be available in the colours of Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Mineral Grey and Sparkling Storm for its petrol varians as well as Black Sapphire, Alpine White, Mineral Grey, Glacier Silver and Mediterranean Blue for the its diesel variants with a range of Leather Dakota upholstery colour choices including Black with Red Highlights and Mocha.

Colours available for the new locally-assembled BMW X4 include Alpine White, Sophisto Grey, Carbon Black, Glacier Silver and Melbourne Red. The interior upholstery options consist of Leather Nevada Mocha and Leather Nevada Black.

 

Customized EEV Incentives

The BMW 5 Series, the world’s most successful premium business car now receives added equipment as standard. The new equipment offering now includes the M Sport Package, Comfort Access, Sports Seats for Driver and Front Passenger as well as the latest industry leading BMW ConnectedDrive offering as standard across its variants of the BMW 520i, BMW 520d and BMW 528i.

The new BMW 528i M Sport, specifically, receives the added feature of a Glassroof and the M Rear spoiler to add more sporty flair to the car. In the terms of wheel offering, the New BMW 520i M Sport and BMW 520d M Sport receives 18’’ M Light Alloy Wheel Double Spoke while the New BMW 528i M Sport receives 19’’ M Light Alloy Wheel Double Spoke.
