It is with great pleasure that I announce kensomuse has broken the 30,000 page views in less than 2 months since its inception on 24 March 2012. What does this mean? Statistically, it  means as much as a pile of dog poo since page views can be manipulated. Heck, I heard some companies even sells services that helps to boost online traffic … all for a small fee, of course. For all you know, I could be constantly clicking my own articles every second, with multiple browsers open just so I can get a kick watching my stats soar like a bullish blue chip company in the stock market.

But you readers know better …. and I am most grateful for your continuous support and feedback.

30,000 means a lot to me …. while it doesn’t mean 30,000 unique individuals have surfed my page, it shows there is a good number of people finds the information in kensomuse to be relevant enough to spare some of their precious time to read. Having no prior knowledge or experience in the area of blogging, I probably expected maybe 10,000 views within 3 months … tripling that number awes me and inspires me to find new ways to share what little I know.

Why start kensomuse?

There’s a few reasons that made me want to do this:

1) Always wanted to be a part of the automotive industry but circumstances have so far not provided me an opportunity. Blogging seems to be a good way to share my passion for cars.

2) If you rewind back to March when I started this, you’ll find some automotive sales and marketing related topics. I was (and still am) appalled at the poor level of professional salesmanship seen in our local showrooms. Being in sales myself, I am saddened by these SAs who are wasting their career by providing substandard levels of service. Poor motivation, lack of own and competitive product knowledge, poor selling skills and selling aptitudes seem to plague every one. This is why I strive to put as much comparative info in my articles. It is my sincere hope that the information here can be of help to them. Selling is fun …. if you have no passion in what you do, do yourself and every customer who walks into your showroom a favor and resign.

3) Transparency. I absolutely HATE reviewers who report false information. It is fair for us to give each other the benefit of doubt and remember that each conclusion in a review is relative to the past experience of the reviewer but some articles are just blatant lies and coming from experienced testers who have driven countless vehicles, such gross oversight is unacceptable. Peugeot having a more serene ride than a VW? I thought my arse had some “calibration issue” since I didn’t come to that conclusion. My motto is simple; give praise where praise is deserving and condemn where condemnation is required.

In the course of the 2 months of it being live, a few readers have brought up some minor bugs that makes the reading experience less than perfect:

1) Readers need to log in or select a default account before commenting. Troublesome
2) Occasional white screens with nothing on it.
3) Replies to comments by readers are not possible unless the site is on mobile mode

To address these issues, we will be moving house. Over the weekend, kensomuse will shift from blogspot to wordpress and some down time is expected during this period. Please bear with us as we do our best to make the site better and better for you.

Kensomuse is still largely a hobby and comes straight from the heart. If opinions sounded bias, please do share. If information is wrong, please do clarify. And most importantly, if you like what you read, please give us a thumbs up by liking our page in Facebook here:

If you are unable to load a page, please give us a heads-up in FB and we’ll reply as soon as possible. Until then, enjoy your stay here and if you have some ideas on what other cars you’d like reviewed, we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Finally, I would like to make a special shout out to Kia Malaysia and a dear friend Mik whose sites has contributed significantly to the traffic here:

    Hi Ken So,

Is it possible to drop me an email. I’m looking to hear about your experience with Skoda. About the parts price compared to VW Volvo and Japanese’s counterparts.

How was the reliability and how much committed Auto Praha in keeping their business sustain by supporting their aftersales.

    karl

    Thank you

      Hi Karl,

Sorry but other than an aircon compressor, the car has been very reliable. As for the compressor price, it costs me RM3,000 inclusive of full servicing and installation It won’t be fair for me to compare the other car manufacturers but I don’t think it’s going to cost a lot over the period of time since Skoda (like most German parts are made to last)

As for Auto Praha, no one can predict the future. They biggest issue is (I suspect) the lack of contacts with MOF and from here, they’re unable to price their vehicles competitively against others. I believe it is just a matter of time before someone builds up the brand here since Volkswagen is getting more and more popular and all the new franchise holder need to do is ride on their success (provided they can price their equivalent models 10-20% cheaper)

    Dear Ken,

Thank you for your reply. I’m glad to hear about this response. If Skoda can manage the brand better, definitely the Czech brand will gradually become next VW.

Congrats and ALWAYS remember your roots. The “other” online portal seems to have lost the plot of late and the majority of their posts are just regurgitated press releases. New cars are only reviewed when the distributor gives them one (doesn’t have to be this way).
